Meet Rhonda J. Hunt

AUTHOR • EDUCATOR • PARAMEDIC • LIFELONG DACHSHUND DEVOTEE

For more than four decades, Rhonda J. Hunt has built a life around helping others—first through emergency medicine and education, and now through stories inspired by nine very real dachshunds with nine very different ways of experiencing the world.

An accomplished author, educator, and Nationally Registered Paramedic, Rhonda has spent more than two decades writing educational materials for emergency medical professionals. Today, she is bringing that same gift for teaching to young readers through Elliott and The Entourage—stories filled with laughter, adventure, heart, and a simple message every child deserves to hear:

— WELCOME TO THE FAMILY

Meet Elliott and The Entourage

They aren’t characters Rhonda dreamed up for a children’s book.

They’re family.

Elliott, Emyrson, Edison, Edie, Elly May, Elena, Everly, Emmy Lou, and Molly are nine real dachshunds, each with a personality, story, challenge, strength, and unmistakable place within the Entourage.

Their real-life adventures inspired a children’s series created to make young readers laugh, wonder, and discover something important along the way: what makes us different can also be part of what makes us wonderfully ourselves. Every member of Elliott and The Entourage is different. Some face physical differences, health challenges, fears, anxieties, or simply experience life in their own unique way.

But none of those differences changes the most important thing.

They are loved exactly as they are.

And through their stories, Rhonda hopes children—and anyone who has ever felt different—can begin to see themselves the same way.

Nine Little Dogs. Nine Completely Different Personalities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where does the inspiration for the Elliott and The Entourage books come from?

A: Straight from The Entourage themselves! The books are inspired by the real personalities, antics, differences, and experiences of Elliott and The Entourage. Many of the challenges featured in the stories are things the dogs actually experience; I simply build a fun and meaningful story around them.

With nine very different personalities under one roof, they provide more inspiration than I could ever invent!

A: No. Elliott and The Entourage are our family members and are not bred or offered for sale. All members of The Entourage are spayed or neutered and microchipped.

We love sharing their lives and adventures with everyone, but their only job is being very loved—and, of course, providing plenty of material for Mom’s stories!

A: Since those ages keep changing, birthdays are much easier! Here are their dates of birth:

Molly — May 5, 2015
Elliott — July 2, 2021
Emyrson — April 10, 2022
Edison — September 19, 2022
Edie — April 29, 2023
Elly May — April 30, 2024
Elena — August 31, 2024
Everly & Emmy Lou — January 18, 2026

And yes, birthdays are taken very seriously around here and celebrated with pupcakes!

A: Yes! There are a few family connections within The Entourage.

Elliott’s sister, Roslin, who looks almost exactly like him, is the mother of Everly and Emmy Lou. That makes the baby girls Elliott’s nieces. And the girls are from the same litter, so they are actual sisters.

There’s also a connection between Elliott and Elly May: Elliott’s dad, Zeus, is Elly May’s grandfather.

A: We keep a bowl of Hill’s Science Diet Perfect Weight dry food available so The Entourage can nibble if they get hungry during the day.

Their main meal is supper, which is definitely an event with nine dachshunds waiting! Their evening meal includes a shared cup of Cesar food (most get half of a cup), two tablespoons of Fruitables, English peas, and either carrots or baked sweet potatoes.

Of course, anyone who follows The Entourage knows there are occasional special treats, too. Edison would probably insist that chicken strips deserve their own food group!

This is simply what works for our dogs and isn’t intended as feeding or veterinary advice. Every dog’s nutritional needs are different, so we recommend talking with your veterinarian about what’s best for your own pup.
